Around Town
What's going on all over the Greater Philadelphia area....
A wise man once said, "All of life's questions are
answered in the movies." Actually, it was the
character Steve Martin played in Grand Canyon
that said it, but he's not far off.
Here are some questions we asked PIFVA's Philadelphia Film Calendar this
week:

Filmmaker Keith Beauchamp
Comes to Macy's
Center City to Discuss His Film, The Untold Story
of Emmett Louis Till
Date: Sunday, August 6, 2006
Time: 3:00 pm - 4:30PM
Location: Macy's Center City, 1300 Market
Street,
Philadelphia, PA 19107
(the old Wannemaker Building)
Men's Main Floor
Michael Dennis of Reelblack.com
took a moment off
from prepping season four of his monthly screening
series at International House to let us know about
this weekend event. Communion.tv has facilitated
bringing filmmaker Keith Beauchamp (The Untold
Story of Emmett Louis Till) to Philadelphia
this
Sunday to participate in the Macy's Center City
grand opening.
Beauchamp will be do a Q&A / meet and greet to
discuss the movie and provide updates on the case.
Beauchamp's film was 10 years in the making and
turned up evidence that implicated as many as eight
more people in Till's death — five of whom are still
living. Enough new facts were uncovered to compel
the Justice Department to reopen the case.
Christopher Brooks, Director of Minority Affairs for the
Philadelphia Film Office, will be the host for the
event. DVD copies of The Untold Story of Emmett
Till will be available for purchase at the event.
See you there!
