The Philadelphia Independent Film and Video
Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the creative capacity of the Philadelphia region by supporting and expanding the work of Philadelphia media makers. Programs offer opportunities to learn, mentor, intern, produce work, advocate for the community and network.
Implicit in our work is the understanding that media arts are a powerful art form, a tool for community mobilization and grassroots organizing, and an important form of expression for youth and other marginalized constituencies. PIFVA's role is to be the heart of an essential and dynamic support structure for local media makers, encouraging independent, non-commercial, artistically provocative, diverse, and community-based production of work. PIFVA also encourages media makers to increasingly act as leaders and teachers, expanding their role to advocate for independent media and media reform.
