| 2004 FALL IN-KIND ROUND:
20 hours of tape to tape color correction with Modern Video Productions were awarded to Fran McElroy and Maria Rodriguez for “Mirror Dance”, an hour-long documentary about once inseparable Cuban identical twins who, though separated for almost 40 years, continue to share a passion for dance. 6 hours of film to tape transfer and color correction go to Nicholas Safko for “Tragic Irony”, a dark comedy in the form of a musical about a neurotic young man suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Visual effects in the form of animated maps from Jeff Brown at Fire Mist Media go to Deirdre May for her documentary, “Fishing for the Future”, which weaves together the stories of three American-based grassroots projects aimed at building lifelong relationships and communities in Haiti. “Inclinations” by Jen Simmons, is a narrative comedy about a young aspiring writer struggling to find the perfect plot for her writing and her life as she considers coming out as a lesbian. This film was awarded audio sweetening, effects and sound mastering by John Avarese at JAV Productions. “The Push” by Sherone Rabinovitz tells the story of John, a computer instructor stuck in a boring 9-5 corporate job. One night John has a series of strange encounters with members of an underground guerilla-artist organization and the puzzling and sometimes scary journey they lead him on tests his courage and challenges his convictions. Sherone’s film received 10 hours of tape to tape color correction by Modern Video productions. In addition, “the Push” was awarded sound design and sweetening with Rodney Whittenberg of Melodyvision. “Thirsty” , by Carolina Roca-Smith and Lauren Anderson |
